Choi Hye-jin is looking to quench her thirst for victory on the Korean Ladies Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour outing.
Choi Hye-jin will compete in the KLPGA 메이저놀이터 Tour’s E1 Charity Open ($900 million in prize money) at Seongmunan Country Club (Par 72) in Wonju, Gangwon Province, starting on Sept. 26. It will be the first time in about a year and six months that Choi, who has been playing on the U.S. Women’s Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour since last year, will compete in a KLPGA Tour event in Korea.
Choi’s presence on the KLPGA Tour has been huge. With 10 career wins, including two as an amateur, she has established herself as one of the top players on the KLPGA Tour. Since moving to the LPGA Tour, Choi has continued to play well, albeit without a win.
Since returning home last week, Choi has been preparing for this tournament. If Choi wins this tournament, it will be about two years and six months since she won the SK Telecom-ADT Caps Championship in November 2020.
Another reason for the interest in this tournament is that it will be held at Seongmunan Country Club, a golf course that many golfers would love to visit. Opened in September last year, Shengmun An Country Club is a premium golf course where the fairways are made up of the finest bentgrass.
The players were pleased with their practice rounds. Defending champions Jung Yoon-ji, Park Hyun-kyung, and Lim Hee-jung gave the course a thumbs-up, saying, “The conditions are really good.” “Watching the world-class KLPGA Tour players compete at Seongmunan Country Club is a great way to experience the charm of the course,” said Lee So-yeon, Head of Golf at HDC Resorts.
The tournament will also feature Bang Shin-sil, who has been garnering the most attention lately. After breaking out with a fourth-place finish at the KLPGA Championship and a third-place finish at the NH Investment & Securities Ladies Championship, she will be looking for her first KLPGA Tour victory at this event. Kim Min-byul and Hwang Yoo-min, who are first and second on the rookie points list, are also in action.
