Yang Min-hyuk (Gangwon FC, 18), a “high school student top prospect,” received the K-League’s “Young Player Award” for the first time in a row after signing a contract with Tottenham.
“Yang Min-hyuk won the K-League ‘Seven Select Young Player of the Month Award’ in July,” the Korea Professional Football Federation said on the 7th. “Yang Min-hyuk has won the Young Player of the Month Award for four consecutive months since April. (Four consecutive awards) are the first in history since the establishment of the award.”
The ‘Seven Select Young Player of the Month Award’ is given to the ‘Young Player’ who performed the best in K League 1 every month.
Young Player of the Year honors a total of five matches from the 21st to 25th rounds of the K-League 1 held in July. A total of 11 players including Yang Min-hyuk (Gangwon), Hwang Jae-won (Daegu), and Hong Yoon-sang (Pohang), who played during the period, were nominated.
Yang scored multiple goals in the 24th round of the K League 1 against Jeju Island, and was named the best 11th round in the 25th round against Jeonbuk with one goal and one assist. Gangwon won both games where Yang scored offensive points. Also, Yang played in all five games in July.
Yang Min-hyuk’s mood is at his best these days. He signed a contract with Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League through June 2030. He will play in the K-League until this season and move on to Tottenham Hotspur in the upcoming winter.
Since the end of last year, Yang Min-hyuk has been on a roll.
Yang Min-hyuk, who joined Gangwon as a semi-professional on December 29, 2023, immediately took over as the main player, boasting better-than-expected play. He played in the opening game with Jeju United, setting a record for the youngest business trip in Gangwon history (17 years, 10 months and 15 days), and even wrote help 35 seconds after his debut.
It didn’t take long for him to taste the goal himself. Yang opened the scoring at the match against Gwangju in the second round, becoming the second semi-professional scorer in history. He broke the record of the youngest score ever by a team and the youngest score ever in the K League 1. He has eight goals and four assists in 25 matches in this season’s league.
He is still a high school senior attending Gangneung Jeil High School, but he booked to go to Tottenham after sweeping the K League 1.
Yang Min-hyuk has already finished his ‘showcase’ against Tottenham.
He played with the left wing as a member of the team K League in the 1st game of the team Tottenham vs. team K League and Coupang Play Series (Tottenham 4-3 win) held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on the 31st of last month, and impressed Tottenham players and coach Enzi Postecoglou properly with sharp shots and dribbles. 먹튀검증
Yang Min-hyuk threatened Tottenham’s defense with a quick dribble from the beginning of the game.
When the score was tied 0-0 at 22 minutes in the first half, he received a pass from the mid field section, and displayed dynamic performance to push forward. He progressed continuously, and gave up a pass to Yoon Do-young, who penetrated to the right side. However, it did not lead to a chance to score.
After receiving Lee Dong-kyung’s forward pass at the counterattack in the 26th minute of the first half, Yang advanced into the box by banking on his speed. He fired a powerful left-footed shot. However, the ball failed to make its way into the goal.
The K-League, which finished the first half trailing 0-3, used substitute cards at the beginning of the second half. Yang also retired to the bench.
