According to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on the 2nd (local time), the Kuwait Football Association officially announced Louis Bento’s resignation two months before the final qualifying round for the North-China World Cup.

Bento, who coached the Portuguese national team by age, took the helm of the Kuwait national team in the summer of 2022.

In the second qualifying round for the North-China World Cup, he had two wins, one draw and three losses (7 points), leading Kuwait to advance to the third qualifying round as the second in Group A. It is the first time since the 2006 World Cup that Kuwait has qualified for the third qualifying round.
