Ahead of this season, the Texas Rangers signed Jacob deGrom to a five-year, $185 million contract.
Despite being a 34-year-old veteran and injury risk, Texas took a gamble.

As it turned out, the Mets were right. DeGrom hasn’t pitched since suffering the injury on April 29 against the New York Yankees.
Texas placed him on the 15-day disabled list.
On April 6, Texas retroactively placed him on the 60-day disabled list.
The earliest he could return is the end of June.
However, there is currently no rehab assignment scheduled for DeGrom.
Texas is currently in first place in the American League West without him. There’s no reason to rush him back.
