South Korea’s women’s soccer team beat Germany to advance to the round of 16 of the 2024 Colombia Under-20 Women’s World Cup.

The national team, led by head coach Park Yoon-jung, won 1-0 against Germany in the third Group D match of the tournament at Metropolitano de Techo Stadium in Bogota, Colombia on the 8th (Korea time).

It is the first time that the Korean women’s U-20 team defeated Germany. With the victory, Korea had one win, one draw and one loss (four points, zero goal difference) to advance to the round of 16 teams by ranking third in the group.

Twenty-four teams will participate in the tournament, divided into six groups of four teams, and a total of 16 teams will advance to the tournament, including four teams with high performance among the first, second and third-place teams in each group.

It is the first time in 10 years that South Korea has passed the group stage at the U-20 Women’s World Cup since the 2014 Canadian tournament (the advance to the quarterfinals), which was held under a 16-nation system. 스포츠토토

Park Soo-jung, who led the winning goal, said, “I’m so happy that I’ve advanced to the round of 16,” adding, “It’s likely that the next opponent will be Colombia, but if we show what we’ve prepared on the field, we’ll be able to bring good results.”
