The 2024 Homeless World Cup in Seoul begins its eight-day journey on the 21st.

The Seoul 2024 Homeless World Cup will be held at Hanyang University’s Seoul Campus Grand Stadium from the 21st to the 28th. Lee Keun-ho, a former member of the national team, will run the competition as the organizing committee chairman, Han Joon-hee, a commentator, will run the competition as the vice chairman, and Lee Byung-hun, who tells the story of Korea’s first Homeless World Cup participation in the movie “Dream,” and Kim Jin-ja, a soccer YouTuber, will participate as ambassador.

The Homeless World Cup is a stage that encourages various people in the blind spot of residential rights to participate as players and dream new dreams beyond the homeless, a common use of “homeless.” This includes homeless people, young people in crisis outside their homes, young people preparing for self-reliance, migrants, refugee applicants, and the disabled. In principle, players can participate in the Homeless World Cup only once in their lives because the goal is to create a second life through the competition.

Eight Korean men’s national team members will participate in this year’s event. Eleven preliminary players selected through July’s preliminary rounds conducted joint training from July 29 to Aug. 2, and coaches including coach Lee Han-byul and senior coach Jang Young-hoon finally selected eight members of the national team through consultations. The eight players, including Jaemin Kim (GK), Jung Sung-deok, Hong Seung-woo, and Kim Sung-joon (captain), Nam Je-na, Lee Jae-seong, Yoo Chan-hyuk, and Fossi Wanji, participated in the competition with their dreams as the aforementioned crisis youth, self-reliance preparation youth, refugee applicants, and intellectually disabled people.

The upcoming event will be joined by FIFA as the official sponsor of the event. The event will provide items and equipment including trophies, medals, official balls and uniforms. The event will also be streamed through FIFA+, its own streaming platform.

In addition, D-live, a South Korean cable broadcaster, will participate as the main sponsor, and has signed a broadcasting rights contract with Hogak, an artificial intelligence (AI) automatic sports relay platform. Team Korea of the Seoul 204 Homeless World Cup received support for beautiful stores and fruits of love, sponsorship from the era of heroes (Seoul’s 2nd District), and sponsorship from Pararella, Open Closet, Tape Design, G-Form and Low. 스포츠토토
