Doosan Bears outfielder Kang Jin-sung and SSG Landers right-handed pitcher Kim Jung-woo have been traded in a one-for-one deal.

SSG sent 24-year-old Young-gun Kim in exchange for Doosan outfielder Kang Jin-sung.

The former Doosan pitcher joined 스포츠토토 SK (SSG’s predecessor) in the 2018 first round draft. He only appeared in one game in 2019, and this year he was a closer in the Futures League. In 14 appearances in the Futures League this season, he has a 2-1 record with four saves.

Kang Jin-seong, who made the switch from Doosan to SSG, was drafted by the NC in the 4th round, 33rd overall, in 2012. He played with NC as a one-hit wonder, but moved to Doosan as compensation for Park Gun-woo, who signed a free agent contract with NC in 2022.

After switching teams, Kang struggled last year with 1.6 ppg in 40 games. He failed to make an impact in his new team. This year, he was 1-for-3 in three games in a Doosan uniform.

Kang immediately joined the SSG roster on the 25th, the day the trade was announced. After greeting his new teammates, he posed in his new uniform at Landers Field.

Kang was a big part of NC’s 2020 championship run. He was NC’s starting first baseman in 2020, batting .309 with 122 hits, 12 home runs, and 70 RBIs in 121 games.

After a down year last year, it will be interesting to see if he can bounce back in his third professional uniform at Landers Field.
