Ulsan Hyundai will continue its quest for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL) title after finishing atop the K League One for the second consecutive season.
Head coach Hong Myung-bo will take on Johor Bahru in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, on July 7 in Group I of the 2023-2024 AFC Champions League against Johor Darul Ta’zim (Malaysia).
Having already clinched the K League 1 title last month, Ulsan can now focus on the AFC Champions League with a lighter heart.
Ulsan will be looking to make it two wins in a row after a 3-1 home win over Johor on October 24.
The squad is also in good shape, having had more than a week off since their 2-0 victory over Daegu FC on October 29 to celebrate their K League title.
With two wins and one loss, Ulsan is in second place behind Kawasaki Frontale (Japan) with three wins.
A second straight win against third-placed Johor (1-2-1) would give them an advantage in the standings race.
In Group G, Incheon United will travel to Shandong Taishan (China) on July 7.
Shandong is coached by Myung-jang Choi Kang-hee, a former South Korean national team and K League Two side Jeonbuk Hyundai.
Incheon will be looking to rebound from a 0-2 home loss to Shandong on Oct. 25.
Belgian international midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who plays for Shandong, scored the lone goal in that match.
The three teams in Group G – Incheon, Shandong and Yokohama (Japan) – are tied with two wins and one loss, so Incheon desperately needs a win against Shandong.
On the 8th, the Pohang Steelers of Group J welcome the defending champions Urawa Reds (JPN) to Pohang for a home match.
Pohang, which leads the group with three points after a 2-0 win in Japan in late October, can consolidate its lead with four points if it wins this match. 무지개토토
Pohang will be looking to carry their momentum from their 4-2 victory over Jeonbuk Hyundai in the Korea Football Association (FA) Cup final on Thursday into the AFC Champions League.
In Group F, Jeonbuk will travel to Singapore to take on Lion City on Aug. 8.
Jeonbuk won 3-0 at home in late October.
Lion City has a number of Singaporean internationals who will play the South Korean national team on Saturday in the first match of the second round of Asian qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In Group F, Jeonbuk is second with a 2-1 record, followed by Bangkok United (Thailand) with three wins.
