Atlanta Braves ace Bryce Elder responded to an opposing batter’s taunt in style.
ESPN and other local media outlets highlighted Elder’s response after allowing a home run to New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso during a home game against the Braves on Sept. 7.
Elder gave up a home run to Alonso 스포츠토토 over the left-center field fence with two outs in the top of the third inning. It was a huge home run, clocking in at 110.6 mph and traveling 449 feet.
The problem came next. Alonso screamed at Elder, “Throw it back, throw it back, throw it back, throw it back, please, throw it back, throw it back!”
Elder made the mistake of throwing a four-pitch slider down the middle on a 1-2 count, which Alonso took advantage of and taunted.
Speaking to local media after the game, Elder played it cool, saying he didn’t hear Alonso yell, “If I had hit a big home run that went all the way down the aisle, I think I would have yelled, too. I haven’t hit a home run, so I don’t know.”
Elder gave up four runs on back-to-back homers to Francisco Lindor and Alonso in the third inning alone, but the rest of the night was scoreless. In six innings, he allowed four runs on four hits, two doubles, two homers, eight walks and four strikeouts.
